Carrier Questions? We Answer Them All

Whether you’re brand new to babywearing or just looking to find the one that suits you and your little one, you’re in the right place. We’ve rounded up some of the most commonly asked questions from our community - covering what fabrics we design with, to whether you can forward face and everything in between.

We’re an open book when it comes to babywearing and our carriers - so if you’re ever unsure, curious, or just need a little reassurance, we’re always here. No question is too small!

Are Chekoh Carriers Hip Healthy?

Yes! Each Chekoh Carrier is designed in accordance with International Hip Dysplasia Institute (IHDI) guidelines, helping to support safe, ergonomic babywearing and healthy hip development.

Our carriers are designed to keep your baby in the optimal “M” position, also known as the “froggy” position, where their thighs are supported to the knee. This natural posture promotes proper hip alignment and comfort during those important early stages of growth.

What fabric are Chekoh Carriers made from?

All Chekoh Carriers are made using a range of natural, breathable fabric blends designed to keep both you and your baby comfortable - no matter the season. We'll break down the compositions below so you can make the most informed decision for your family.

Stretchy Wrap Carriers
Fabrication: 97% Bamboo & 3% Spandex

We chose a blend of 97% bamboo and 3% spandex for our Wrap Carriers to create the perfect balance of softness, stretch, and support. Bamboo is naturally breathable, lightweight, and gentle on delicate skin, while the touch of spandex adds just enough stretch to mould comfortably to you and your baby - offering a snug, secure fit that moves with you throughout the day.

Ring Sling Carriers
Fabrication: Bamboo/Linen Blend - no stretch or synthetic fibres

We chose a bamboo and linen blend for our Ring Slings to combine the best of both worlds: comfort and structure. Bamboo brings a soft, breathable feel that’s gentle on your baby’s skin, while linen adds natural strength and durability for a supportive, secure carry. Together, they create a lightweight fabric that’s perfect for everyday use, especially in warmer weather.

Can you forward face in the Chekoh Clip Carrier?

Not in our current design but stay tuned - we’ve got something exciting pencilled in for July 2026! Behind the scenes we’ve been busy designing, testing, and gathering feedback from our community on our very first forward-facing compatible carrier. You asked, we listened.

While our current Clip Carrier doesn’t support forward-facing, we always recommend chest-to-chest as best practice for comfort, connection, and healthy positioning. Once your baby has full head and neck control, you can also explore a back carry as another great option.

If you do choose to forward face (with any carrier, not just a future Chekoh one *wink wink*), leading babywearing associations recommend keeping it to short periods - with a maximum of 15 - 20 minutes at a time. Baby should also never sleep in a forward-facing position due to the risk of asphyxiation.

For longer wears or sleepy babies, it’s always safest and most comfortable to return to a chest-to-chest position.

Which Chekoh Carrier is best for me?

Choosing the right carrier can feel a little overwhelming - especially with so many beautiful (and practical) options to pick from. Whether you’re expecting, in the newborn stage, or chasing a busy toddler, the best carrier really comes down to your lifestyle, comfort, and how you plan to use it day-to-day.
